OTBKB Weekend List: Nov 19-21

Here is the beginning of the weekend list. I am still searching for cool stuff. So far highlights include: Poetry, rap, ghost stories, and verbal duels duke it out in this animated evening of spoken-word fireworks, presented by Brooklyn Arts Council as part of Black Brooklyn Renaissance and hosted by Tai Allen. Andy Statman, the Klezmer legend, at the Jewish Music Cafe, 128 Hours at BAM (with James Franco and directed by Danny Boyer of Slum Dog Millionaire fame) and Kagero Japanese gypsy rock at the Observatory Room. Friday November 19 at 8PM at the Observatory Room: A live rock show followed by talk-back. Kagero: Japanese Gypsy Rock and Cultural Confusion: Live rock show followed by talk-back

Friday Nov 19 at Barbes at 10PM: One Ring Zero is led by Michael Hearst and Joshua Camp. The Brooklyn-based band has released six CDs, including their critically acclaimed album, As Smart As We Are, a book-cum-CD, featuring songs with lyrics contributed by such authors as Jonathan Lethem, Margaret Atwood, Paul Auster, Dave Eggers and Rick Moody.

Saturday Nov 20 at 8PM at Issue Project Room: Artist Richard Garet will fill ISSUE Project Room’s performance area with fog, and an overhead projector will display colored light and activate the atmospheric space by changing color dynamics over time. The projector will direct light to the floor, creating a cone of light. The visitors will find themselves inside of the work actively listening and viewing.

Saturday Nov 20 at the Jewish Music Cafe (doors open at 8:30PM: Virtuoso Clarinet and Mandolin, Klezmer and Bluegrass Artist Andy Statman and his band!!!
