A member of Park Slope Parents wants to know when it became the norm for 6th graders to begin dating. She wonders if this is just something that is happening at MS51 or a Brooklyn thing in general.
This PSP member is clearly shocked. She's heard that parents are giving 6th graders money to go on dates. 6th graders
money to go out on dates.
What about allowances? Shouldn't you at least be earning an
allowance in order to date?
Finally, the mom, a self-professed "dinosaur," admists that her kids are only in kindergarten. But she has a nephew at a middle school in Park Slope.

Yes, 6th graders dating is happening all around…im 12, and in 6th grade, and going to the dance with a guy…its ok
I don’t know about giving kids date-specific money, but kids were “dating” in my 6th grade class, & I grew up in Rhode Island. I’d say it’s not too uncommon.
Some kids start dating earlier than 6th grade. When i was in elementary school kids in the 4th grade had boyfriends & girlfriends.i THINK IT happens everywhere.Kids these days watch to much tv & a know a lilttle to much for their age.
