You know the derelict house on Third Street just off Seventh Avenue next to Tempo Presto. Someone put Christmas lights on the fence. That building is the blight of our block. What a nice gesture. Anyone know who did it?
Also, check out the purple lights in the house next door. The owners decorated their metal flower sculpture with lights.
And while I’m at it, Tempo Presto has nice lights, too.
I thought those lights were put up by Tempo since they are the same, I believe, as the ones decorating the tempo fence. Tempo has certainly turned that corner around – The restaurant is clean and attractive – a well run place, and the outdoor area is cleaned up as well. Bravo to them. And thanks for the lights
Yes, lights lights all over Brooklyn. While the magnificent displays of Dyker Heights always get a lot of attention, it is always wonderful to encounter an especially lovely display when you least expect it… A simple string of lights on an otherwise dark block….An amazing display, lights on trees and a Victorian home with steam engine display on E.17th near Foster…A joyful display with a funny Santa hanging from his fingertips from a roof on Lewis Place in Ditmas Park…even just a single light in the window in a home near Greenwood…
Didn’t President Nixon, in 1973, create a hoopla when he proposed a ban on outdoor Christmas holiday lighting because of concerns for energy shortages? That didn’t last long and no doubt contributed to the late President’s grinch-like image (well, it certainly didn’t help him). Energy concerns are real but it is still uplifting to see light punching through the darkness..
