There are so many great readings and discussions (Dave Eggers, Paula Fox, The Two Jonathans: Lethem and Safran Foer, Valentin Achek Deng, Kathryn Harrison, Colin Harrison, Joyce Johnson, Jacqueline Woodson, Elizabeth Strout, yada yada…) at next Sunday’s Brooklyn Book Festival but my hot pick for what to do:
AFRICA NOW
3:00 p.m. at St. Francis College at 180 Remsen Street in Brooklyn Heights. Presented by Tin House editor, Rob Spillman. The continent of Africa is undergoing a literary renaissance, and this program highlights three of today’s most exciting young African writers: Uzodinma Iweala, Doreen Baingana, and Mohammed Naseehu Ali.
What a fantastic program they have scheduled, all centered around the Heights. Kudos to BP Markowitz, BPL, and everyone involved. Brooklyn rocks and reads!
