Found in Brooklyn decided to clean out a big walk-in closet and found all kinds of photographs, including pictures of the plane crash in Park Slope. I’m not sure if these are photos that FIB collected once and forgot about. Or if they were hidden in her closet by a previous tenant.
Last month I found a bunch of amazing old photos in my closet, amongst them was is this test strip of images of the Park Slope Plane Crash of 1960!! Yup, two planes crashed down right on 7th Avenue in Park Slope.
My grandparents lived in the building that was clipped by the wing at 126 sterling pl.
I lived on Sterling Place, across the street from
St. Augustine Church/School. I was home that day
and I remember the crash so well. I thought the
world was coming to an end. Started sleeping
with my hands covering my ears for awhile. (At 10
years old – everything scared me back then)
Do anyone know the name of the school on Butler
street (between 5th and 6th)? P.S. 282 replaced
that school. I am trying to get copies of class
pictures from that school, if I can. I think the
school was called P.S. 4.
i was a student at ps 10 jr h.s. i remenber the crash we all wanted to go to the crash site I know some us took off during lunch but the police had all the streets block. so we did not see much my upstairs neibher was a nurse and she would tell about the little boy that survive, but he later pass away from his injurys the 707 jet crash in brooklyn the pilot was trying to land in prospect park they reported. the twa constallation prop plane crash in new jersey i think? take care write back if you like.
I remember I was 8 years old and my grandfather came to pick my brother and me up from the public school. I lived about 10 blocks from the 1960 plane crash. It’s strange cause now I live two blocks from Miller Field in Staten Island (New Dorp)where the two planes collided.
my father was in the NYPD. On that day we were going to visit my grandmother who lived on schenk street in brooklyn we lived in queens. my dad heard about the plane crash on the radio and we diverted our destination to the plane crash. I waited for my dad for around six hours. he came to check on me numerous times and then went back to the crash. I will never forget that day nor my DAD.

My dad was a Pillar of Fire minister. I remember as a young kid going to Brooklyn with when it was his turn to preach. I have fond memories of Holland tunnel and the ferry. Charlie
I was in the first grade at St. Augustines School, Sterling Place between 5th and 6th Ave. I remember the nuns screaming people crying, and waiting for my mother to come to pick me up. The news reporters were at our school. The nuns were helping the local people in the community. I remember them saying the pilot knew there was a school in that area because he saw the steple of the church and he just missed us. I thank God my my classmates were spared this awlful crash. I would never forget that day and how scared i was and my classmates.
Oh they were given to me and for some reason forgotten. Ironically the person who gave them to me was a photographer and had absolutely no interest in them!
