As reported on WNYC, doctors from Long Island College Hospital are trying to break free from the parent company that wants to close the maternity ward and sell off property.

Both sides are
appealing to the state Health Department to restructure the economically troubled hospital. Doctors say that maternity ward is
necessary even if it is causing the hospital to lose money.
