Tuesday Night: Dancing Under the Stars in Washington Park

I have friends who have been going to Dancing Under the Stars every Tuesday night in Washington Park in Park Slope and are just loving it. Every week this summer this event, sponsored by the Park Slope Business Incentive District, features a different band and a different style of music. So far, there’s been jazz, pop, and folk dancing. This week a Latin band will be providing the music and there should be some great dancing rhythms. Tuesday night in Washington Park in Park Slope (3rd Street and Fifth Avenue) dance to the Latin beat with Sonido Costeno. The dancing begins at 7PM. Before that (from 5-7PM) there’s music for kids and special kid’s programming.

But at 7PM: dance under the stars in Washington Park.

  1. Well, I live across the street and I hate it! It is intensely loud! There is something about the configuration of the park that intensifies sound and makes it much louder in the buildings across the street. (It’s a sort of amphitheater effect.) The nice lady at the Old Stone House figured this out and now has her events behind the building. This event is so loud my family and I have been going out every Tuesday night since the first 2 or 3 times this event has been presented. It is even deafeningly loud BEHIND out house. I was in the backyard of Brooklyn Mercantile one Tuesday night. (Their yard is near ours.) Everyone in the store’s backyard was complaining about how loud it was.

They need to rethink this event. It is not fair to those of us who live here.
