Today is Friday and you’re probably beginning to plan your weekend. That’s why I spend hours scouring the listings to find great stuff for you to do. This weekend check out the new movie theater in Dumbo and Celebrate Brooklyn’s “DIY world’s fair.” Lots to do, there is truly lots to do this weekend…

Friday, July 23 and all weekend: Audrey the Trainwreck, a SXSW fave will be showing at Dumbo’s reRun Gastropub Theater, reBar‘s new independent movie theater – located just down the hall from the restaurant. Featuring 60 reclaimed car seats, a full bar and gourmet snack counter, and a twelve foot screen.

July 22: Movies with a View in Brooklyn Bridge Park presents The Big Lebowski produced and directed by the Coen Brothers.

All weekend: Inception, I Am Love, The Kids Are All Right, Cyrus at BAM; Cary Grant film festival also at BAM

July 22 – August 1, the Gallery Players presents . Broadway’s Jeremy Bobb stars as the Danish prince in their summer presentation of Shakespeare’s seminal work. Read more about Hamlet  or click here to buy your tickets.

July 22 and 23 at 8:30 Piper Theater  presents Nocturnes by John Connelly directed by Nigel Williams in Washington Park.

July 24 & 25: Pipe Theater presents The Book of Liz by David and Amy Sedaris in Washington Park.

Celebrate Brooklyn

July 23rd at 7:00PM Celebrate Brooklyn presents Masterminded by bassist-producer Simón Mejía and featuring by the rapid-fire delivery of the enchanting singer Liliana Saumet, Bomba Estéreo have exploded out of Bogotá to the forefront of the Latin alternative scene. The band merges traditional sounds from Colombia’s Caribbean coast like cumbia, bullerengue and champeta with electronica, reggae and hip-hop to conjure “homegrown folkloric music being etched upon the global DNA of urban beats.” (Hispanic Magazine)

July 24 at 4PM: Celebrate Brooklyn presents: Field of Dreams. You build it. You come. A DIY world’s fair of music and art. Grammy-winning producer Andres Levin and The Bruce High Quality Foundation present a Bandshell-wide, all day event fit for all the senses. Musical and theatrical guests include: Cucu Diamantes, Luis Guzman, Pablo Picasso, M1 from Dead Prez, Los Hanky Pankys vs. Yerba Buena, Les Nubians, Raven O, and many more to be confirmed.
