This morning I read in the Brooklyn Paper about the sad and tragic death of Aileen McKay-Dalton, the 40-year-old mother of three in Ft. Greene, who was riding a Vespa when she was hit by a speeding SUV driver, who ran the light.
Mckay-Dalton was born in Scotland. Her children attend Brooklyn Heights Montessori school and she was an active member of the Ft. Greene community.
City Councilmember Letitia James said of last Thursday’s traffic death: “A 40-year-old woman traveling by motor scooter was struck by an SUV vehicle that ran a red light near DeKalb and Clinton Avenues.” The driver has not been located or identified.
The Ft. Greene Local reports on another tragic murder:
A 26-year-old man was shot and killed near the Walt Whitman Houses on Friday. The Daily News has identified him as Michael Jones, but the NYPD has not confirmed that name, given out his address, or released any more information about the shooting. We headed out to Whitman this weekend to report, and found a small memorial to him there, and police officers on guard at the scene. The police investigation is ongoing.
