If anyone feels like it, please send me information about this. I see that Gowanus Lounge has a story, a map and even a quote from a Brooklynean:
Did anyone notice that the new parking regs in Park Slope are really much worse than before?
At the moment I am away in a place where parking is a non-issue. But I do want to hear from OTBKB readers about this very important Slope matter. Leave as a comment (they don’t post immediately as they are moderated) or send me an email: louise_crawford(at)yahoo(dot)com.
I just don’t like the fact that a bike lane was slipped in on us during the hiatus from alt. side so there’s no double parking on that day. Additionally, the adjacent street that might’ve taken our overflow also got a bike lane.
While parking in park slope is very hard indeed, what is even worse is the lack of traffic enforcement of drivers who park in bus stops, do not yield the right of way to pedesterians, speed through red lights or who make turns on people who walk in the cross walks. The police are not giving out tickets in any meaningful numbers and as a result, we have very dangerous streets. I know the police have to watch out for terrorists but the terror is now just crossing a street. Parking enforcement should give way to better traffic enforcement. It saves lives and injuries.
