Composer Louis Rosen just wrote in to say:
Dear Neighbors,
The wonderful poet (and my current collaborator), Nikki Giovanni, will join Capathia and me at Park Slope’s Community Bookstore this coming Tuesday evening, July 8, at 7 pm, to celebrate the release of our new CD, ONE OUNCE OF TRUTH: The Nikki Giovanni Songs on the PS Classics label.
Nikki will read a some poems; Capathia and I will sing some songs from the new record; the three of us will sign CDs and/or books; refreshments will be on hand and a good time should be had by all. Hope you can come
Warm Regards,
LR
I just want to say the incident that happened at King’s County Hospital (the patient that was having seizures being ignored by hospital employees), is a broader reflection of low the morass has reached regarding value for doctors, hospitals and health care providers.
People want to sue doctors, lawyers want to cut doctors down any chance they can get for a cheap buck, Washington wants to cut payements to doctors, want to cut payments to hospitals… well, there you go.. thats what happens. yah, in this case, it was egregious negligence. but king’s county is WAY overburdened with volume, and underfunded.
Respect your doctor. Be nice to him. He or she is human. Just like you. You pay for the groceries you buy in the store. So pay for the bill when it comes. It’s not free. Its not entitled to you. Someone went through alot to become a doctor. Acknowledge that.
