Stroller Bar to Open in Park Slope

A stroller bar is set to open in Park Slope this summer. The Boo Bar named for the infamous Bugaboo stroller, will serve food and drink for adults in a kid-friendly environment with all-organic kiddie cocktails, indoor and outdoor play areas, and, most importantly, an employee in charge of stroller parking.

“It’s a project we’ve have been working on for awhile, and the recent stroller ban at the Union Bar really just confirmed what we found in our research. Parents in Park Slope want a family-friendly watering hole,” says the owner who asked that her name not be used at this point.

Parents will be able to find anything they would at a normal bar plus all the little things that make life easier like sippy cups and a full children’s menu. There will be a special changing room with a diaper vending machine, as well.

Thursday thru Saturday nights after 10 p.m. there will be a weekend cabaret for adults. “We haven’t booked any acts, yet,” says the owner. “But I can say there will definitely be music and performance.”

The owner was reluctant to divulge the location of the Boo Bar but I am guessing it will be on Fourth Avenue.

  1. Aight, people should be able to do what they want, they should be allowed to smoke, drink, abuse prescription drugs and shoot heroin. But, when you have a child, your actions (I cant believe I feel the need to say this) carry consequences beyond you. Your actions affect your children. There is nothing wrong with having a cocktail or two with a meal when accompanied by children. But a bar serves one main purpose, that is to drink. Is it really all that good of an idea to indoctrinate children into the world of what will inevitably irresponsible drinking? As the poster above said (and I am an attachment parent) get a babysitter for a few hours, or when the kids are in bed, go meet your friends and tie one on. But this concept of a bar where children are allowed is bizarre and like babies watching TV I cant see it amounting to anything good, only early introductions into adult concepts and lifestyles.
And to the person who made the pedophile comment, you are an idiot. There are pedophiles everywhere, in your churches, schools, extracurricular activities, in your family and in your neighborhood. In fact I would use your logic as reason for people to avoid churches.

  2. I hope this is an April Fools Joke, otherwise this is disgusting. This is an open invitation to all pedophiles to come to this place to have a drink and play with the kids while the parents act irresponsibly. Have the genius who are thinking of opening this sort of place even thought of the liability issues with such an establishment. How about aiding to the abuse and neglect of a child? Next thing you know, we’ll be seeing these parents’ toddlers in “Johnny Walker Blue” onesies. Remember that your child looks to its parents to set an example and, as a bonus, can recognize brands and logos as early as one year old! What a fantastic example folks are setting, just like the story I heard of parents who set up shot glasses at the dinner table filled with juices, so the kids would not feel left out. I almost passed out when I heard that the six year old asked, “Daddy, can we do slammers tonight”. Fine example folks. You young parents need to act responsible, get a sitter, or take the kids to a library or museum and not the bar! This will only lead to the kind of laws states have not permitting anyone under 21 within the confines bar and separate rooms for bar and restaurant area. Think Bloomberg won’t take notice? Just wait and see.

  4. Why do people act like it’s not possible to have a beer or glass of wine with some friends and NOT get trashed? We’re not talking about people funneling beers here. When I lived in Spain it was a very pleasant, almost daily occurrence to socialize at a bar over a beer (or Shandy, in my case) and some tapas. Children were almost always present. I’d think that those who don’t want to see kids at a bar would be pleased that this place would be upfront about what it is. Is there a shortage of bars in Park Slope now?

  5. This is such a great idea. I can’t wait to go. This is exactly what PS needs. A place where moms ( and dads) can kick back and enjoy a couple of rounds while their kids play and drink juice out of sippy cups. I hope they are planning to have special minders for the kids so that in case the parent’s get too inebriated, the “minders’ can diaper their children and make sure they don’t hurt themselves or others. Will the children be kept in a special penned in area? Perhaps there will be a petting zoo there as well. It sounds too good to be true.

  6. This is why people hate on Park Slope so much. Are parents that attached to their kids that they can’t live them home with a babysitter for an hour or two? What sort of sheltered society do we live in these days?
