When Hepcat walked home this evening from the Seventh Avenue F-train station around 7 p.m., he saw fire trucks and various pieces of equipment parked along Seventh Avenue from 4th Street to 7th Streets (Squad 1 and 122 were there).
He said, there seemed to be a lot of water going into the building on the east side of Seventh Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets.
Another eye witness saw a crane near the roof of Sette.
A reader wrote in that he thinks Sette may have had a fire. Does anyone know anything?
Sette was open for business last night (Saturday). I didn’t see any signs of damage as I walked by.
I was bicycling by Sette when the firetrucks were arriving. I saw seven trucks came, in three batches (from three stations?) and heard more sirens coming from the direction of prospect park after I was already up the avenue. About five minutes later, more trucks came up 9th Street and turned right on 7th (i.e., in the opposite direction of Sette). I noticed that they were marked Brooklyn Heights. They must have had to respond to a Prospect Park/Windsor Terrace call because the locals were occupied at Sette.
Some company put a new load of cell phone repeaters on top of the Sette building. Hope they [and their electrical load] didn’t have anything to do with the fire….
There was definitely a fire. Tons of thick black smoke was pouring out of the front around 6:15, and firemen were on the roof. Smoke seemed to be coming from up there, too, but it could have been coming out the chimney.
