Imagine how Diaper Diva feels now that Steve Jobs lowered the price on the iPhone. I mean, she paid $650 bucks for that thing she almost lost when she put it on top of her car in Montauk.
"I guess Apple realized that the price was too high. I knew they were going to lower the price at some point. It’s a concession because they didn’t sell as many as they wanted to," Diaper Diva told OTOBK.
Suffice it to say, DD was relieved to hear that
she’s getting a $100 Apple gift certificate. "I was happy to hear that but I
wish he just gave us the $100 bucks. Now we have to spend it at Apple
and I’ll probably end up spending more money."
Diaper Diva still loves her iPhone and is doing everything she can to make sure it doesn’t get lost (or fly off a car) again.
"Maybe they should have waited a little longer before lowering the price," Diaper Diva says. "It wasn’t very sensitive to their loyal customers who ran out to buy it."
Diaper Diva plans to put her $100 gift certificate from Steve Jobs toward a new iPod for her Dad.

I don’t have any sympathy for the people who lined up the first few days to buy the phone. They did it because they wanted to be cool and they paid a price for that. Anyone with any sense should have known that the price would come down fast. That is the way technology is. I think Apple’s offer of $100 credit is more than generous.
Anyway, the business pages are reporting that Apple stock has dropped in value over the last couple of days as a result of the announcement. No one said the Iphone is a bust, but they are reportedly trying to sell a million Iphones by the end of the year. But the long lines didn’t last long, maybe becuase of the high pricing. They may be short of their sales target. Deep discounting is one way to meet the target. child?
We’re supposed to feel bad for someone too stupid to know that Apple was going to lower the price on the iPhone? And this is just chock full o’ wrong information. The iPhone a bust? Then how do you explain its sales performance? Not that I would expect information on this blog to be, you know, right or anything.

Diaper Diva’s right, this was not handled well from a marketing perspective. They must have been desperate to move them out of the warehouse. It would have been more sensitive to offer the new buyers the $100 Apple credit rather than cut the price. Or maybe they should have offered an after-the fact rebate to the loyal-maniacal-waited-in-line buyers.
Unless they come out with a “Green” Ipod that does your laundry for you, or something really remarkable, I don’t think that folks will be lining up for future releases. But you never know.. well, anyway, enjoy your Apple Iphone
