FOOD COOP TO INSALL NEW DEBIT CARD CHECKOUT SYSTEM

This is such BIG, BIG NEWS.

You see, one of the many inconveniences of the Park Slope Food Coop is that you have to pay in cash. So this is such a HUGE step forward.

So that they can install these miraculous machines, there will be NO SHOPPING on Monday, Oct. 1st.

Shopping will resume on Tuesday, October 2 at 8 AM

  1. well, they still won’t take credit cards, and i think the fees for debit cars are much lower. but this will be huge – part of the reason it takes forever to get out of the coop is people standing around counting out the amount of change they have, and then returning food items because they don’t have enough dough. and eliminates the need to frequent the bank of america on the corner. awesome!

  2. The Berlin wall came down in 1989.The Soviet Union soon after. The Red Chinese found capitalism, and the Olympics.
I can use my debit card in Red square. Tiananmen Square, too.
Another bastion of the people’s republic bows down to the capitalistic dogs. Oh how I so wish it to be like the country of Che and Fidel, dollars only please!

  3. is that really a good thing?
along the line of communal places disappearing, can’t the food coop be a place where credit (or debit) cards aren’t open for business? Sort of how angelica kitchen (east village) only takes cash as a political statement? I think it’s big, not so great news.
not the end of the world. the coop long ago gave up being radical.
