  1. Changed the world? Bollocks. The sound of FM radio and weddings, maybe, but not the world.
    What about some of these?
    Grateful Dead “Dark Star”
Blind Faith “Can’t Find My Way”
Traffic “Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys”
    Bee Gees “Stayin’ Alive”
Gary Glitter “Rock & Roll Part 2”
    “Cha-Cha Slide”
    “Electric Slide”
    “Macarena”
Part of our culture, but didn’t change the world.

  2. I’m surprised they didn’t list Bridge Over Troubled Water. It was the vehicle, for better or worse, of so much sentimentality responding to the cultural revolution.

  3. Michael beat me to it.
Also, this list could be called “40 Songs Rolling Stone Trots Out Every Time They Have a New List of Songs to Promote.”

  4. What about “THE WORLD’S MOST IMPORTANT BAND — — THE CLASH!!!”
