Since Friday, my three-month-old MacBook has randomly been turning itself off. No warning. Nothing to do with the battery. In fact, it tended to do it when the Macbook was plugged into the wall. I thought maybe it had to do with the power source…
I took it to Techserve on Monday. The technician said, “I think I know what’s wrong. The first batch of Macbooks had a software problem, which resulted in random shut downs…”
He looked at my Macbook and said: “Have you done any upgrades?” I told him that I hadn’t.
Well, my Macbook needs multiple upgrades and that should take care of the problem…
Yeah, you definitely could’ve done that yourself.
Also, MacBook, SoHo, Mac.
Our oldest daughter had a similar problem with her first MACbook, purchased from the Staten Island Apple Store. Danielle is a student at SUNY New Paltz and had to make numerous (inconvenient) trips to the Apple Stores in Albany and NYC until the SOHO store finally gave her a new one. Same complaint, just shutting off. And no, no upgrades had been done..she seems pretty satisfied with it now but it soured her initial dreams of MAC bliss…good luck
Hey Smartmom! It’s very easy to update a Mac. Just go to the Apple menu in the upper-left-corner, and click on “Software Update.” After typing in your password and hitting “OK” a few times, it should take care of itself.
I hope this didn’t cost you anything. And in the future, just give me a call. I can take care of these things for you for a lot less.
By the way, it’s TekServe, not Techserve. They are great.
And Brooklyn needs an Apple Store.
