Being from North Carolina (land of BBQ-in fact the BBQ scene there is so contentious that it actually divides the sate) I was so happy to find this place. I have eaten at the big and little BBQ joints in NYC, trying in vain to find my favorite food and resonably priced (honestly, $17 for a pork platter at Blue Smoke, how can you even be serious?). What I’ve found so far is that so many of them are trying to do “Southern” style of BBQ and most of them do it haphazardly and it ends up over all bad and hokey. The Smoke Joint really steps out and makes no apologies to be their own brand of BBQ, certainly from their menu there are some throwbacks to the south ( it is BBQ, so you can’t and shouldn’t completely ignore the influence), but it is done very well. The rubs on the smoked meat is well balanced, the sauces are outstanding and the pickles, well they are just delicious. The service is fast and friendly and most importantly, they are dedicated to the cause of creating a good meal. I highly suggest this place to all BBQ fans and to anyone who enjoys a well crafted meal.
BBQ Shrimp.. mmmm. it was great and the perfect portion fo yo money!
I have travelled all of the the country and world, and the ribs at the Smoked Joint are some of the best I have ever tasted. My family and I enjoyed a meal on Sunday night, and ALL of the food was wonderful. I will be a regular patron at this place for many years to come.
