  1. I don’t know the name for that combination piling-buoy, but maybe it’s one of the two at the Army Terminal pier down at 58th St. Last week my wife Melody and I treated outselves to an excusion on the ferry to there from Wall Street. It was a wonderful short trip, to see the Brooklyn waterfront from the water. The wind was very strong, the waves were four feet, and Melody and I started out on the top deck enjoying ourselves tremendously, and when a mate came up to warn us we might get wet, we said, Oh no, we love it here. Then as we came out of the lee of Governor’s Island, a wave hit broad on the starboard, and in one swell foop we were soaked. When we came to the Army Terminal pier, those red floaters on the piles were sliding up and down like pistons.
