SO MANY HALLOWEENISH THINGS TO DO STARTING ON SATURDAY…

This list was compiled by Susan Fox, the list-serve dynamo and visionary behind Park Slope Parents.

There is so much, almost too much, to do in the next few days. Just about every kid-oriented venue you can imagine is doing something. And on Tuesday, don’t miss the Halloween Parade. That starts on 12th Street and Seventh Avenue at 6:30 on Tuesday night.

Here’s just one thing from Susan’s insanely detailed list of Halloween happening. Everything else is in the extended body of this post. Click below.

THE PUPPETRY ARTS THEATRE, INC.
339 2ND ST. 1R BROOKLYN, NY 11215
718-768-3703

What’s better then a Trick Or Treat Bag filled with just candy? How
about a Trick Or Treat Bag filled with arts and crafts, cool prizes,
crazy hats, and so much more? You’ll find it all at The Puppetry
Arts Theatre’s first Annual Haunted Halloween Carnival Saturday
October 28th 2006.

This creative and educational carnival open to everyone is the
design of The Puppetry Arts Theatre (TPAT) Executive Director Tim
Young. The event has been established as a fundraiser to support the
Arts In Education and Theatrical Programs TPAT offers to area
hospitals, shelters, schools, and community events.

Mr. Young felt that an event with so many rewarding and fun
activities and such high profile sponsors should itself be part of
the Theatre’s outreach program. In turn, over 300 youth living with
HIV, domestic violence, and abuse will be given the chance to pick
out their very own Halloween Costumes donated to the occasion at a
pre event Pizza Party sponsored in part by Famous Pino’s Pizzeria of
7th Ave Park Slope.

Youth are also invited to paint self-portraits on tiles at the
Pottery Cafï¿1⁄2′ Booth which will be used to create the new Welcome
Mural at the Brooklyn Hospital Children’s Floor.

These 300 kids, as well as the first 200 kids from the general
public, will receive a free Trick Or Treat Bag with valuable toys,
games, hats, and magazines from such companies as Elope Hats, Wham-O
Toys, and Regal Cinemas.

The event offers carnival games including Basket Ball Toss and Ski
Ball, special games with Score! Educational Center and The NY Daily
News. Youth can explore arts and crafts featuring puppet and mask
making with the volunteers from TPAT and Arts for All. The Fire
Safety Team will sponsor a fire drill activity and Mc Gruff the
Crime Dog will be on set to watch as the Good Dog Foundation greets
dog lovers of all ages.

Maggie Moo the Cow will be on hand to offer the scoop on some really
great carnival treats with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Bonnie’s Grill,
and Gus Soda. With plenty of fun to go around TPAT will showcase
selections from its new family puppet musical "In A Round About Way"
and performances by the YDR Dance Ensemble.

Enjoy music and games with the Eventique DJ and win great prizes in
the Kid’s Costume Contest or bring the family dog for the Doggy
Costume Contest sponsored by Buttercup’s Pawtisserie of 5th Ave Park
Slope and New York Dog Magazine. Take a spooky tour of the Haunted
Lab funded by Commerce Bank or jump all about in the Bounce House
sponsored by Send In The Clowns.

So much excitement to be had at this amazing event for the entire
family! Handicap accessible and hosted by Camp Friendship 339 8th
Street at 6th Ave, Park Slope. F or R train to 9th St. 2pm-6pm. $1

Ghouls & Gourds
Sunday, October 29, Noonï¿1⁄24:30 p.m.
Let the "wild rumpus" start! Bring your costumes, instruments, and
silly attitudes and prepare to be charmed by one of New York City’s
wackiest Halloween extravaganzas. Hot Peas ‘N Butterï¿1⁄2who stunned
audiences from Symphony Space to the Tribeca Film Festival with
their upbeat blend of Puerto Rican bomba plena, American folk, and
groovy R&Bï¿1⁄2will have audiences of all ages dancing in the grass. The
group will be joined by nine-year-old Puerto Rican dance prodigy
Alize Roid. Rebecca Frezza and her Big Truck Band became an instant
smash hit on Nickelodeon cable television with her song about
gardening entitled Hï¿1⁄2O + Oï¿1⁄2 + Sun. She promises to bring that song
and more of her award-winning high octane rock ‘n’ roll sounds to
BBG audiences on the Cherry Esplanade. Parent’s Choice Gold Awardï¿1⁄2
winner Billy Jonas returns from Asheville, North Carolina, to sing
about recycling, watermelon seeds, and Mount St. Helen with his one-
man "industrial re-percussion" band. Plus use Sassafras-leaf
rubbings to make a "ghost portrait," check out displays of "shrunken
apple heads" and Thai pumpkin carving, or make your own recycled
instrument to take home. The afternoon culminates with a Halloween
costume parade led by drummers from the Brazilian percussion corps,
Maracatu NY. Visiting ghouls and goblins can march to the beat of
hundreds of zany percussion instruments, carry an assortment of
larger-than-life puppets, or just show off their own costumes for
all to see!
