The V-Spot

Love the name. Has anyone tried the new vegan place on Fifth Avenue below Union. The menu looks good: they call it Italian, South American and American. Looked to me like mock meat dishes. For brunch, try their tofu scramble eggs. Attractive place. Dying to hear from anyone who has eaten there. I have a hunch it’s good: if you like tempeh and I DO.
Okay food, terrible service. I’ve been there about ten times and only once did I receive decent service. The food is good for brunch, but their dinners are somewhat plain. The biggest disappointment is that they used enriched white bread products for their sandwiches. Most vegetarians and vegans would opt for whole grain or sprouted bread. They also used bottled juices like Mott’s instead of fresh juicing themselves. Not sure how attuned they are to their customer base. I would give it a C+.
I have eaten at the V spot around five times and have never been disappointed. I am far from a vegan but pride myself on trying any type of food. They have everything from vegan comfort food to traditional healthy options and an assortment of delicious desserts. Come springtime the great outdoor space will be back, but in the meantime it’s a great place to warm up when in Park Slope.
v-spot is excellent. i’ve been there about 4 times since it opened. my wife is vegetarian. she likes the chicken cutlets, with spinich and mashed potatos. i liked the nachos, the pancakes & sausages, the lasagna and the meat loaf. its very clean and simple, and the tax is added into the prices, which are very reasonable.
Nice place. Check out my item on Gowanus Lounge, called “The V-Spot: Welcome New Addition to Fifth Avenue Slope Dining. http://gowanuslounge.blogspot.com/2006/06/v-spot-welcome-new-addition-to-fifth.html
