Hot Nights, Cool Movie Theater: Magic Mike

I’ve heard that Magic Mike is the PERFECT summer movie because it is so HOT to see Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey as male strippers. Have you seen it? Do tell.

Here it is in a simple sentence: A male stripper teaches a younger performer how to party, pick up women, and make easy money. Directed by Steven Soderbergh.

Here it is even simpler: Air conditioned movie theater like the UA Stadium Court Street 12 on Court Street.

Somewhere Between Here and Now at Zero Film Fest

Some truly independent films will be playing this weekend at The Invisible Dog Art Center as part of the Zero Film Festival.

Transforming The Invisible Dog Art Center into an engaging and novel screening space, the Zero Fest will hold nightly events featuring self-financed films.

Olivier Boonjing, a young filmmaker from Brussels, is currently in New York City with members of his cast and crew to attend and promote a ZFF screening of his film Somewhere Between Here and Now.

It sounds really interesting. And the main character’s name is Louise. The film is playing Friday, November 19th at 9PM at the The Invisible Dog Art Center located at  51 Bergen Street in Cobble Hill.

The Shake Shack Coming to Brooklyn

Yeah. It’s pretty exciting. And I’ve never even been to the Manhattan Shake Shack. But Hepcat has and he LOVED IT.

Part of Danny Meyer’s foodie empire, the hamburger, fries and shake shack made its name and fame in Madison Square Park in 2004 (pictured above).  It is now crossing the bridge to Brooklyn and people are pretty darn excited.

Well, not everyone.

Sal Casaccio, owner of Tony’s Famous Pizzeria, which has been in business for 20 years, at the corner of Fulton and Adams Streets, is reportedly not too thrilled.

He told the Brooklyn Paper: “We got caught in the flood of landlords trying to bring in so-called big business — I can’t believe they’re taking this building from us,”
