Work Begins on PPW Bike Lane

Work has begun on the Prospect Park West bike lane. Some say it will calm traffic, others are dead set against. Hey, a little Park Slope controversy. So what else is new?

On Tuesday  new lane markings that were painted on. The two-way bike lane that will stretch from Grand Army Plaza to Bartel Pritchard Square, along with the four-foot buffer zone beside it.

This means one less lane for drivers.

  1. It’s amazing that the city would allow 3 different projects to take place at the same time and in the same neighborhood. Found out this afternoon that my street is being resurfaced starting at 6am tomorrow. I won’t be around this evening, so I just spent almost 2 hours trying to find a place to put my car. In the process I discovered 3 or 4 streets being resurfaced and a movie or TV show on 8th Ave., 6th Ave and President Streets, literally taking out close to a dozen streets worth of parking. Good planning!
